OPEN AUDITIONS - Apple Of His Eye

Premiering on Broadway in 1945, APPLE OF HIS EYE was Abilene Community Theatre’s first production, performed in 1954 in Abilene’s Fair Park Auditorium. It tells the story of a widower gentleman farmer who comes to realize that he is developing feelings for his temporary housekeeper, his neighbor’s daughter.

 
The cast consists of:

·         Stella Springer – Foss’s wife, and neighbor of Sam Stover; female, aged 30s to 60s

·         Foss Springer – Stella’s husband, a farmer, and neighbor of Sam Stover; male, aged 30s to 60s

·         Lily Tobin – Sam’s temporary housekeeper, Ott’s daughter, in her late teens / early twenties; female, aged 18-30

·         Tude Bowers – Sam’s best friend farm foreman, & Nettie’s husband; male, aged 30s to 70s

·         Sam Stover – widowed gentleman farmer, owner of Maple Lawn Farm; male, aged 40s to 50s

·         Nina Stover – Sam’s daughter-in-law, Glen’s wife, & Carol Ann’s mother; female, aged 20s to 40s

·         Carol Ann Stover – Sam’s granddaughter, & Glen & Nina’s daughter; female, aged 6 to 13

·         Ott Tobin – Lily’s farmer father; male, aged 40s-60s

·         Nettie Bowers – Sam’s housekeeper and Tude’s wife; female, aged 30s to 70s

·         Glen Stover – farmer, Sam’s son, Nina’s husband, and Carol Ann’s father; male, aged 30s to 40

Auditions are for all parts, and no previous acting experience is necessary. Those auditioning should bring a prepared 30 second to one minute long monologue showcasing their acting. Auditions will also include selected cold readings from the script.  The first read thru and rehearsals will be scheduled after auditions.
